Global Citizenship

The Chinese Language and Culture Exchange is a departmental club that aims to promote a greater understanding and use of the Chinese language and associated cultural elements through interaction in language and activities between domestic students and students from China.

The Coastal Carolina University Gullah Geechee Student Alliance (GGSA) is a new organization, the first of its kind the country.

The main goal of the International Club is to make everybody feel welcome, allow students to meet new friends, and expand their knowledge about surrounding areas. We gather once a week, and we also organize some exciting events for the weekend. The club organizes dinners, movie nights, and one longer trip for each semester. Because members are of such diverse backgrounds, everyday we learn something new about different cultures without having to attend a lecture. It is a fun way to broaden your horizons, and to meet new fun loving people everyday. Everybody is invited!

The IEC is a special interest housing community for international and American students to authentically connect, build friendships, explore and celebrate cultural differences, & to give back to the community. Students not living in UP are welcome too! Intererested students should contact the Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS) to apply. You can find us in the Lib Jackson Student Union in room A-109.

The purpose of this program is to encourage, prepare, and empower incoming students by linking them to successful student, peer role models and faculty. Global Ambassadors and Mentors fosters a supportive, inclusive, connected, welcoming community at the university. The mentors help, guide and orient the students with the campus and all of its services, while explaining the challenges they might face being a first-year student/within their academic program. They also help the students have an early sense of belonging, comfort, and confidence especially in the first-year students.

Intercultural and Inclusion Student Services offers cultural development opportunities grounded in social justice for students, faculty, staff and the community through a variety of programming and involvement. Through this, the department collaboratively creates a safe, supportive and inclusive campus environment that encourages achievement and success for all.
