IEEE Style is from the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a large professional organization for Engineers, Computer Scientists, and Information Technologists (IEEE also produces Xplore, the article search engine).
A major difference between IEEE style and APA style is that sources are listed numerically. The first source mentioned in-text is denoted as [1], and so on. Items in the works cited list are then listed numerically, not by author last name.
APA (American Psychological Association) style is used by students (and scholars) in the Social Sciences and Sciences.
These web sites provide examples of citing materials in APA format.
