Primary Sources in Books

It is also possible to find primary sources in books through the library's online catalog.  One way to do this is to look for books written during the time period you are studying. These could be books that were published during the time period, or collections of personal writings like diaries or letters that were published later but were written during the time period.

For print books, you can request the book you would like and pick it up at the Thompson Library help desk when it is available.  For ebooks, you can read them online, or in some cases, download chapters to read offline.

There are also collections of reprinted primary sources available that you can browse through to look for primary sources that may be of interest to you.  These can also be examples of different ways that people have organized anthologies. Here are some examples:
