Search Tips

Keywords are important! Think carefully about the words you want to search for, similar words that may work (remember that different publications may use different terminology for the same concept), and the level (organ or cell) that you are interested in.
Be careful not to be too broad or too narrow. Overly broad searches will produce way too many articles. Too narrow of searches will result in too few (or no) articles.
Don't pay for full text. If you can't immediately link to full text, request the article through interlibrary loan.
Citation sleuthing in both PubMed and Scopus can be very helpful to find new articles that are similar to a good article you already have.
