DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals)
DOAJ is a community-curated list of open access journals and aims to be the starting point for all information searches for quality, peer reviewed open access material.
Open Policy Finder
Open Policy Finder aggregates and analyses publisher open access policies from around the world and provides summaries of self-archiving permissions and conditions of rights given to authors on a journal-by-journal basis. Users may search by journal title, ISSN, or publisher name.

Evaluating OA Journals

While open access journals can be a good way to expand your visibility, some of these journals are predatory. Refer to the following resources to locate quality, open access journals.

Journals that say they are indexed in DOAJ but are not
List of journals that falsely say, or have falsely said in the past, that they are indexed in DOAJ.

List of titles that have been removed from the DOAJ's list of reputable OA journals.

If you still have concerns about the quality of a specific journal, consider the following:

Go to the journal home page. Do you recognize the publisher? (Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, etc.)
Look into the parent publisher.
Check WorldCat. Do any libraries own this publication?
Ask your colleagues about the journal.
Email the journal’s editors.

Open Access Books

Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB)
This database indexes and provides access to scholarly, peer-reviewed, open access books. Users can search by keyword or browse by subject, language, or publisher.
OAPEN Library
The OAPEN Library is a central repository for hosting and disseminating OA books.
Publishers of OA Books
The Open Access Directory, OAD, maintains this list of publishers of OA books. The list is maintained by the OA community at large, hosted at Simmons University, and supervised by an independent editorial board.

Open Access Repositories

Open access repositories can be a useful way to promote your publications. Before you do so, make sure you own the copyright to the work you are submitting. CCU Digital Commons
CCU Digital Commons is the institutional repository of Coastal Carolina University, and is administered by University Libraries. Research and scholarly output included here has been selected and deposited by the individual university departments and centers on campus.
MLA Commons
Users can upload publications to CORE, an open-access repository.
