Finding Articles in OneSearch and Databases

OneSearch vs. Databases: Where Should I Start?

OneSearch

OneSearch is University Libraries' general search engine. It can explore a wide variety of subjects, and it will show you both digital and physical items that are available for use. Try OneSearch if you're starting out with a search topic and you want to see a large scope of what's available. You can use the "Refine Your Results" menu after you search to limit your results with filters such as the publication date, subject, or type of source (book, eBook, article, etc.).

Databases

When you are sure of your topic and you want to take a deeper dive into resources that are targeted towards a single subject area, consider using the databases. Databases are collections of information centered around a certain topic or subject. Unlike OneSearch, they will produce results that are more specialized and less broad in scope. They can be a powerful and useful tool for finding information specific to your area of research. If you'd like to try searching through our database collections, try the suggestions below.
