The library database CQ Researcher is celebrating it's 100th anniversary this Fall! CQ Researcher was started in 1923 (not as a database, but as a weekly publication called Editorial Research Reports which eventually became CQ Researcher). The mission of CQ Researcher has always been to deliver "unbiased and well-researched reports that empower students, researchers, and journalists to make informed decisions."
If you are doing research on current events, controversial issues, or related topics, CQ Researcher can be a great place to get started. Most reports in CQ Researcher will provide background information, a timeline of important events (chronology), information about the current situation, and a pro/con section where two experts on the topic will be asked a question about the topic and give very different answers to it. Each report also includes an extensive bibliography, which can lead you to other credible sources of information about the issues.
