The goal of the Library Input Team (LIT) is to engage in conversation about University Libraries, providing a channel of communication between students and library faculty and staff, by giving students a voice in shaping University Libraries services, resources, and spaces. Members will learn more about the University Libraries and offer ideas and perspectives to help us better serve the needs of Coastal students. Members are expected to share insights into user behavior and needs as well as recommend approaches to improve library engagement on campus and to students. Members will be advocates for the libraries across campus.
LIT will work to fulfill its mission in a variety of ways including, but not limited to:
Student members will gain resumé-worthy experience in collaboration, project management, marketing, and public relations. Students will work with peers interested in creating the kind of library and community that reflect student’s needs and perspectives and influence how library services and spaces work to reflect what is important to students.
University Libraries values diversity in the Library Input Team and will aspire to include students representing a variety of academic colleges, specific populations such as transfer, international, or first-generation, as well as members with diverse lived experience based on their race, gender, sexuality, age, religion and more.
Recruitment for LIT will be open until the start of the first meeting of the year and will resume after the last meeting of the year.
Service as an Student member is open to all current undergraduate and graduate students of Coastal Carolina University. If you are interested in becoming a member of the group, please contact Loren Mixon, Academic Engagement and Outreach Librarian, lmixon@coastal.edu
