Activities, tutorials and videos can be completed in class or embedded into Moodle and assigned as pre-work or to reinforce a research concept or skill. Some of these materials are incorporated into the sample lesson plan provided on this page. You are encouraged to select the materials that best fit your research goals for your class and your instruction style.
Instructors are welcome to link to these guided tutorials within their course Moodle.
Instructors are welcome to use these videos in class or ask students to watch the videos outside of class. These videos can be embedded in Moodle.
The document linked below organizes several different videos and tutorials for you to choose from to support your students' understanding of credibility of sources and the different types of sources generally used for research, such as scholarly, trade and popular sources.
We recommend reviewing those skills that are of interest to you and selecting those that best match your teaching style and preferred approach to use with your class.
Although we cannot reserve library rooms for your classes, we have had good experience bringing the research experience to classrooms by requesting students to either bring in their own electronic devices for a research session, or having them check out a laptop from the library the night before class.
Let your students know that laptops can be checked out for 24 hours, and then renewed up to 2 more days by calling the library’s circulation desk at 843-349-2400. If not renewed, late fees will be owed.
You may also try to request a computer lab for a specific date/time through the CCU 25Live system. The Detailed Instructions link will walk you through generating your request.
