Industry Classification Codes

Industry Classification Codes are used in many of the library's online resources to identify industries. The two most common industry classification codes are SIC codes and NAICS codes.

North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)
NAICS codes are six digit codes that were developed by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. NAICS codes have generally replaced SIC codes.
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
SIC codes are four digit codes for American industries that were developed by the U.S. government. SIC codes were last updated in 1987.
