CSE (Council of Science Editors) style is most often used by students (and scholars) in the Sciences, especially Biology and Medicine. The CSE style describes three options for references; Citation-Sequence (C-S), Citation-Name (C-N), and Name-Year (N-Y). If you aren't sure which citation style to use, be sure to ask your Professor which style they prefer for assignments in their class. CSE used to be known as CBE (Council of Biology Editors).
