Library Hours

Access the library's operational hours are located HERE.

  • EXAM schedules - A valid CINO card is required for entrance between Midnight and 7am.
  • In the event of an unforeseen weather/emergency issue, the library's hours may change. Please check the library's website for information regarding last minute hours adjustments or closures.

Unattended Children

Unattended Child Policy

  • Children (individuals under 19 years of age, not currently enrolled at CCU) must be accompanied at all times for their safety and well being by a parent or guardian.
  • Minors' access to the library materials, including the Internet, is the responsibility of the parent, guardian, or other responsible adult.
  • Parents and guardians are responsible for the conduct of their children on library premises and must provide reasonable supervision.
  • Should an unattended child be found in the library, the staff will try to locate the parents. If a parent cannot be located, the staff will contact the Office of Public Safety on campus to report the situation and seek assistance.

  • Patrons with disabilities shall have access to the University Libraries resources and services comparable to that which is extended to all other patrons.

Computer, Internet & Printing Access

Computer & Internet Usage

  • Coastal Carolina University students, faculty, and staff who wish to use the Library's computers for research purposes and will be given preference over all other users, including those using the computers for non-academic purposes.
  • University Libraries reserves the right to limit the amount of time an individual user can devote to a single session. A one (1) hour time limit is in effect for users not affiliated with Coastal Carolina University.
  • Access by Minors: Full Internet access is available in University Libraries via its public access computers. Parents or legal guardians of those under age 18 must assume responsibility for deciding what library resources and websites are appropriate for their children and are encouraged to guide their children in the use of the Internet and inform them about materials they should not use. University Libraries does not monitor or control information accessible through the Internet and is not responsible for its content, for changes in content of the sources to which the Library home pages link, or the content of sources accessed through secondary links.
  • Accessing websites displaying information or material in violation of state or federal law, or sites that create a “hostile environment” for other users of the library is prohibited.

Noise Policy

  • University Libraries promotes a friendly academic atmosphere. 
  • Groups using the study rooms are required to keep their voices at a level that cannot be heard outside of the study room.
  • Collaborative study is available in the Thompson Library and the Bryan Information Commons. However, although group work and quiet talking is allowed in these areas, patrons should be considerate of other library users.
  • All library patrons must adhere to the Code of Student Conduct. Non compliance of library and university policy may result in loss of library privileges or judicial proceedings.

Instruction Room Policy

Instruction Room Use

The primary purpose of the library's instruction rooms is to support the library's information literacy program. Currently, the library uses TLIB 120 and BICL 234 as the main instructional spaces. Due to the high demand for library instruction sessions, the instruction rooms are reserved only for librarian-led instruction sessions. Faculty wishing to locate alternative space for their classes should contact Scheduling and Event Services to request access to available locations on campus.

  • Library instructor stations and equipment in TLIB 120 and BICL 234 (including projectors and TVs) are for library staff use only.
  • Students may use televisions in TLIB and BIC study rooms for academic purposes only.
  • BICL 234 is used on Sundays during the academic year for tutoring through the Learning Assistance Centers. Please see their website for additional information.

Lost & Found

The Lost & Found for the Bryan Information Commons and the Thompson Library building is located at the Thompson Circulation Desk. 

To retrieve an item, patrons must present valid ID and a description of the item. Access Services will work with Public Safety and the Office of Sustainability as appropriate for unclaimed items.
