Copyright refers to authors' (creators of all sorts such as writers, photographers, artists, film producers, composers, and programmers) exclusive right to reproduce, prepare derivative works, distribute copies, and publicly perform and display their works. These rights are granted at the time the work is created in a fixed, tangible form.
Visit the Copyright Guide to learn more about how copyright effects your own published works and those of other authors whose work you use in class. Contact your liaison librarian if you have further questions.
