Citing Resources

Throughout your time at Coastal, you will use articles, books, journals, websites, and many other works for your research assignments. Citation is how you give credit to the authors of these sources.

Always double check the citation requirements on your assignment to ensure you are using the correct citation style. When in doubt, check your syllabus or contact your Professor.

Citation Styles

MLA (Modern Language Association) Style is most often used by students (and scholars) in the Humanities, but is especially used in English Language and Literature courses.  If you aren't sure which citation style to use, be sure to ask your Professor which style they prefer for assignments in their class.

APA (American Psychological Association) style is most often used by students (and scholars) in the Social Sciences, especially Psychology, and by Education and Business researchers.
