About the Studio Rooms

Thompson Library is equipped with two state-of-the-art podcasting studios that are designed for both audio and video recording. Featuring an array of studio-quality condenser microphones, a digital mixer for adjusting volume and plugging in your own devices, and a Marantz Turret videocasting camera/microphone combo unit, our studios provide easy plug-and-play access for any creative or academic recording project you can imagine.  Both studios also feature monitors that can be used for display mirroring or livestreaming purposes. Simply bring your own device and software, plug the equipment in, and get started!

Coming soon: Studio C in Thompson Library features a One-Touch Video Recording system. This user-friendly setup will allow you to walk in, set up your presentation on the monitor (if needed), and simply press a button to begin recording. After you're done, your video will be instantly retrievable for easy uploading or editing. It's the perfect solution for anyone who needs to record a presentation, speech, or a short-form video for social media.

PowerPoint Recordings

If you have a slideshow for a class where you need to record yourself presenting said slideshow, you're most likely using PowerPoint (it's free for current CCU students!)

PowerPoint has built in recording functions that allow you to record yourself while presenting a slideshow. You can find these options in the "Record" tab. You can do things such as:

  • Records your transitions, ink drawings, laser pointer, etc.
  • Placing your webcam in different spots on each slide so all your slide information is still visible
  • Easy exporting to video files for uploading

Using the Shure SM7B Microphones with the RODECaster Pro   

  • We have 2 Shure SM7B microphones. These are professional dynamic microphones optimized to record vocals.

  • The RODECaster pro is an integrated audio production studio used in conjunction with the Shure SM7B microphones. It is used to mix audio from multiple sources in real time. 

  • Mixing audio includes up to 4 microphones, your computer's audio, bluetooth audio, and a customizable soundpad!

 

Getting Started:

  • For optimal performance, the Shure SM7B microphones should be plugged into the RODECaster Pro which can be plugged into a laptop, tablet, or phone with the appropriate USB port adapter.
  • (2) Headphones are available for checkout from access services.

  • We have a Marantz professional broadcasting turret. The turrets are equipped with full HD webcam, microphone with pop filter, and LED ring light. 

  • This hardware can be used to record video and audio at the same time.
